How 莎拉·文森特 found the supporting cast for her future

莎拉·文森特 says growing up, her family had its share of medical emergencies – heart attacks, 中风和癌症.

“I ended up spending a lot of time in hospitals,” Sarah says.

So much time that she took it as a sign and studied biomedical science and then landed a job in a pain clinic in 丹佛 where she saw both the clinical and administrative sides of the business.

The job also shed light on a misconception Sarah says she’d always held: that the only way to help people was to become a doctor, nurse or lab worker. But in her job, she regularly saw how communication and teamwork led to good patient outcomes.

“I never truly understood the expanse of the medical field,” she says. “The truth is, the practitioners couldn’t perform without administrative support.”

The epiphany sent Sarah searching for a degree that would let her play the role she knew she wanted to play. She just needed the right supporting cast.

And after her search, she found that support at 密歇根州立大学丹佛’s MHA program.

“I was worried because I’d had been out of school for two years,” she says.

A worry that soon melted away. “The MHA staff and my classmates, who are now friends, were always willing to help – they gave me what I needed to finish.”

Sarah sees the link: she got the support she needed at MHA so she can give her future cohorts the support they’ll need.
