Karen Nuñez-Sifuentes is a community leader, social justice advocate, and undocumented immigrant from Torreón, 科阿韦拉, 墨西哥. Her inspiration to start this endowed scholarship comes from the challenges she faced in her educational career.
She immigrated from 墨西哥 to 丹佛 in middle school, upon which she had to learn the language amidst ongoing xenophobia. Even after entering college, she was note eligible for most scholarships and career opportunities due to her immigration status.
Nonetheless, with the support of the Puksta Foundation and MSU 丹佛, Karen was able to join the ranks of Latinas who have completed an undergraduate degree in STEM!
